North Devon is an area of outstanding natural beauty with Exmoor being the second of our National Parks.  There are splendid coastal views, golden beaches, picturesque villages and an abundance of wild life.  The authors of Westward Ho! and Tarka The Otter are testimony to this.  In fact Charles Kingsley wrote part of his tale whilst staying at the 17th century Royal Hotel in Bideford, our base for the 5 days.  The town straddles both banks of the River Torridge linked by its unique bridge of 24 different width arches, and the tree lined quay is still used by small ships.   As soon as you step inside the luxurious Royal you will enter a world of traditional comfort combined with modern amenities and first class service.  Fresh local produce is served in the superb Regency Restaurant.  All rooms are en-suite with TV and tea facilities.  The hotel has a lift.
