Brittany has something for everyone. Its breathtaking scenery, elegant coastline, stunning medieval towns and cities, punctuated by quaint villages will make this a most enchanting tour. The region has ancient links to the British Isles, and has a culture unique to the rest of France. Our base, St Malo, is a historic port of which the old town is surrounded by fortified granite walls. Accommodation is provided at the modern Mercure St Malo Balmoral Hotel, which is a few minutes walk, or a short bus ride from the walled city. Please note that the evening meal will be hosted by a nearby restaurant. Crossing will be overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo, returning via Caen. Cabins, breakfast and dinner are included.

Provisional Itinerary:

Sun: Late morning pickups for a leisurely journey to Portsmouth where we board the overnight crossing to St Malo.

Mon: After alighting the ferry, we head the stunningly charismatic Breton town of Dinan . It is then a short distance back to St Malo and our hotel. We dine each night at a restaurant a few moments walk away.

Tue: We head southeast to the attractive and ancient hilltop city of Vitré.

Wed: Full day excursion. A southerly journey to the ancient Celtic ports of Quimper and Carnac where there will be an opportunity to visit the prehistoric standing stones (admission extra).

Thu: At leisure in the ancient fortified port of St Malo. An opportunity to sail on the passenger ferry to Dinard.

Fri: Departure from St Malo after breakfast for our leisurely journey heading towards Caen for the overnight ferry to Portsmouth. There will be a visit to the iconic Mont Sant Michel* and a break at Ouistreham before checking in for our ferry. *Please note that a shuttle bus runs between the coach park and the Mount.

Sat: Returning to the Midlands for early afternoon.
