The Southwest of Scotland is often overlooked in favour of journeys to the Highlands and islands. Big mistake, for there is plenty to admire and enjoy in this beautiful corner of Scotland with its lush green valleys, treelines and seascapes. Our base is the historic harbour town of Stranraer, gateway to the Rhinns of Galloway and overlooked by the Castle of St John. Half-board accommodation is provided at the North West Castle Hotel, situated a short walk from the town centre and its attractions. It was formerly a home of the Artic explorer, Sir John Ross, who was instrumental in establishing the North West Passage. All rooms are en-suite, and feature a TV, WiFi and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel has a lift and there is a pool, gym and indoor Curling rink.
Excursions: Dumfries & Ayr (Burns Birthplace extra); Portpatrick & the Mull of Galloway
