LAKELAND & THE CUMBRIAN COAST
5 Days £380
Sun 11th - Thu 15th July 2021
Single Supplement £65
The northern fells of Cumbria provide dramatic scenery, history and culture. Bonnie Prince Charlie, William Wordsworth & Donald Campbell are all part of the fascinating past of this area. We stay for 4 nights half board accommodation at the Cumbria Grande Hotel in Grange-over-Sands, nestled between the Lake District and the sandy expanse of Morecambe Bay. All bedrooms are en-suite with TV, hairdryer, telephone and tea facilities. The hotel has a lift to some floors.
Provisional Itinerary:
Day 1: Mid-morning departure. After a lunch stop in Cheshire we continue due north, arriving at Grange-over-Sands mid-afternoon.
Day 2: Full day excursion. First we visit Bowness-on-Windermere. There will be an opportunity to take a boat cruise on Windermere (fare extra). We then continue north via Ambleside to Rydal Water, Grasmere, Thirlmere and Derwent Water to Keswick. After a couple of hours there we return to the hotel.
Day 3: A leisurely excursion to Coniston. We then follow the scenic coast road to the historic fishing town of Whitehaven. Alternatively, customers have the opportunity to take a ride on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway instead of visiting Whitehaven (fare extra).
Day 4: At leisure in Grange-over-Sands.
Day 5: After a leisurely breakfast we return to the west Midlands.
