The fells of Cumbria and the Lake District provide dramatic scenery, history and culture and plenty more to enrich its visitors. Bonnie Prince Charlie, William Wordsworth and Donald Campbell are all part of the fascinating past of this area. Our excursions are planned to showcase as much of its wonders as possible. We stay for four nights half board accommodation at the Grange Hotel, which has an excellent position in its own grounds, a short walk from the town centre and seafront. The hotel has a lift, a heated indoor pool and spa facilities. It also benefits from sweeping views of the bay and the town.
Provisional Itinerary:
Day 1: Mid-morning departure. After a lunch stop in Cheshire we continue due north, arriving at Grange-over-Sands mid-afternoon.
Day 2: A leisurely excursion to Coniston and the Village of Grasmere. There will be plenty of time to visit Dove Cottage and the Sarah Nelson Gingerbread Shop.
Day 3: Full day excursion. First we visit Bowness- on-Windermere. There will be an opportunity to take a boat cruise on Windermere (fare extra). We then climb the Kirkstone Pass and journey alongside Ullswater towards Keswick. After time there, we return via Shap Fell.
Day 4: At leisure in Grange-Over-Sands. Local bus and train services connect with towns further afield.
Day 5: After a leisurely breakfast we return to the west Midlands.
