Arran could be considered ‘Scotland in miniature’, capturing everything the mainland has to offer in one small island. From jagged hills and mountains with deep and dramatic glens, to sheltered beaches and coves with lush scenery. Its geography even allows for distinct ‘lowland’ and ‘highland’ areas. Whilst the island is small enough to whiz round in one day, we explore it at a much steadier and relaxed pace, allowing time to enjoy its charm at leisure. We stay for three nights at the family-owned Kinloch Hotel, in the peaceful village of Blackwaterfoot. The hotel boasts an indoor swimming pool, and has a lift. Our first night will be at the Park Hotel, Kilmarnock, before we journey onward to Arran. Half board accommodation throughout.
