Some 170 miles north of John O'Groats, the Shetland Islands are Britain's most northern frontier. Originally a Viking settlement, they were Norwegian territory until the 15th century, when they were transferred to Scottish rule. This blend of culture, the dramatic landscape carved over the centuries by the Atlantic, and the sparse population all combine to promise a unique and most memorable holiday. The overnight ferry from Aberdeen to Lerwick and a three night stay at the modern Shetland Hotel in Lerwick will allow for four full days on the Isles. We shall also stay overnight in the Stirling area on the outward journey, allowing for a leisurely tour through Royal Deeside en-route. Half board accommodation throughout including cabins on the ferry. Availability of single rooms extremely limited.
PROVISIONAL EXCURSIONS: Ballater, Shetland South Mainland, North Mainland, Yell & Unst
